3 Basics to a Stress-Free Software Implementation

September 9, 2021

When it comes to implementing a new CRM software, we know the struggle. It tends to be stressful, chaotic, and messy. I have gathered some helpful information having implemented a new software when I owned my own landscape company and having supported several companies during and post-implementation. If you are in the midst of it or preparing for it soon, remember these three basics!

1. One Step at a Time

It is best to break the implementation down into different stages. For example, there will need to be some data imported, some settings set up, some elements (template, items, workflows) created, etc. We suggest identifying a list of steps and prioritizing them. That way you can focus on one thing at a time.

2. Keep it Simple

Think of this as a fresh start! Although the transition might feel messy, you should aim to keep your new system free of the old mess. That might look like duplicate property’s, contacts, estimates, etc. This is also a fresh start to consider your process. Are they too complicated? Are you getting in your own way? The transition to a new system is a great time to take a look at this and identify areas to become more efficient since you will likely need to tailor your processes to the new software anyway.

3. Set Realistic Goals

Besides identifying a set of prioritized steps, set some realistic goals! The most obvious is your go-live date. There is a fine line between rushing the process and taking your sweet time. Depending on the size of your company, this will look different for everyone. You should also set mini-goals along the way. For every stage, you should have a rough date set. This allows there to be a sense of accomplishment and organization throughout the process.

If you utilize these three basic steps while preparing for implementation into a new CRM software, you will not only find success, but it will be a less stressful experience! Obviously, depending on the software, there are many other factors to consider. If you are interested in how we might help you in this transition, please contact us. We would love to strategically support your company!
